Recently, OcenWings received Approval in Principle for Innovative Wind Propulsion System from three of the world’s leading classification societies: DNV, Bureau Veritas, and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). This essential recognition underscores the potential of OceanWings Wind Assisted Propulsion System (WAPS), a key technological feature in the WHISPER project.

The AIPs mark an important milestone as OceanWings move closer to full-scale commercialization, providing shipowners and shipyards with a verified and efficient solution for future fleets. This recognition is a significant achievement that should pave the way for new projects, providing maritime decision-makers the confidence they need to adopt OceanWings solutions.

Emmanuel Schalit, CEO at OceanWings, commented that “Receiving these AIPs is a testament to our team’s dedication to creating a cleaner and more sustainable future for shipping. With the increasing focus on decarbonization, our solution offers a practical and cost-effective pathway for shipowners to meet stricter environmental regulations. It’s an affirmation of the importance of European shipping leadership in adopting and promoting sustainable maritime solutions.”
